Devonshire Emerald

Given to the sixth Duke of Devonshire by the Portuguese Emperor Don Pedro in 1831. The 1,383.95-carat uncut hexagonal emerald crystal was mined from Muzo, Colombia. The color of the emerald is remarkable and typical of the ideal color of emerald which this mine is famous.

The crystal is now on permanent display at the British Museum of Natural history in London, England.
