Patricia Emerald

The Patricia Emerald crystal, sometimes referred to as The Patrizius is a significant 632-carat crystal obtained from the Chivor mine in Colombia in 1920. It is currently part of the a collection in the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

This uncut emerald is particularly noteworthy, not just because of its large size, but also because of its rare 12-sided, dihexagonal shape.

The emerald was donated to the museum by Fritz Klein, who named the emerald after the patron saint of Ireland.
